Unaccompanied minors
What is the minimum age for an unaccompanied minor?
The minimum age for children travelling alone by plane as a UM (Unaccompanied Minor) depends on each airline’s policy:
Boarding for unaccompanied minors
Children are looked after by the airline staff at boarding and entrusted to the person responsible for collecting them on arrival.
When reserving, you should notify that your child is travelling unaccompanied. This fact must be confirmed by the airline company.
On the outbound flight, pick up a UM pouch from your company at check-in in which you will place:
- The ticket
- The child’s ID card or passport
- Parental authorisation
- The ID form of the person who is responsible for collecting the child. (This person must be present at the airport at the expected landing time with proof of identity)
For journeys outside France, download the parental authorisation to leave the country form to be filled out before coming to the airport.
Wait until the flight has taken off before leaving the airport.
